According to officials, at least 35 individuals were killed and 37 others were injured in an IED attack in Burkina Faso, West Africa. The victims were killed when a vehicle in a convoy collided with an improvised explosive device (IED).

“One of the vehicles carrying civilians hit an improvised explosive device. The provisional toll is 35 dead and 37 injured, all civilians,” a statement said by the governor Rodolphe Sorgho said.

The army followed the supply convoy to the restive north, and the incident occurred between Djibo and Bourzanga, he claimed. “The escorts swiftly guarded the perimeter and took efforts to assist the casualties,” the statement stated, adding that the convoy had departed the north for the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou.
