The Indian Air Force will commence a two-day combined training exercise in the Northeast on Thursday to test the combat preparedness of its aircraft, authorities said.

The drill comes at a time when Indian and Chinese forces clashed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, which was preceded by many attempts to breach air space. “This week, the Indian Air Force will conduct a combined training exercise in the eastern region to assess aircraft readiness. The training session was meticulously designed ” stated sources.

Sources further added “In the last several weeks, our fighter planes have had to be scrambled on two or three times to deal with Chinese drones approaching our positions on the LAC. The Su-30MKI planes had to be scrambled to deal with the potential of an air violation.”

In Parliament, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that efforts by Chinese forces to cross the LAC in the Yangtse region of Tawang Sector and unilaterally change the status quo were met with stern and persistent opposition by Indian troops. “The Indian Army valiantly halted the PLA from invading our land and forced them to return to their stations,” minister stated.

According to defence sources, prior to the conflict in the Yangtse area, Chinese drones advanced aggressively towards Indian positions on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh, compelling the Indian Air Force to scramble its Su-30MKI fighter planes in the vicinity.
