VHP demands Telangana Health Director's resignation over Jesus remark

Rao had supposedly remarked it was because to the “blessings and benevolence of Lord Jesus Christ” that the country could beat COVID-19.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Thursday sought the resignation of Director of Health and Family Welfare Gadala Srinivasa Rao for his statements on Jesus Christ and COVID, alleging that his speech has “hurt the sensibilities of a majority of Hindus”.

Rao had supposedly remarked it was because to the “blessings and benevolence of Lord Jesus Christ” that the country could beat COVID-19. Balaswamy, the Chief Spokesperson of Telangana’s Vishwa Hindu Parishad, told ANI that Rao had “insulted” all Hindu gods and goddesses and has demanded Chief Minister KCR to fire him.

He further said “Srinivasa Rao Gadala, Director of Health, must resign, according to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The majority of Hindus were offended by his comments. He has insulted all of Hinduism’s gods and goddesses. We demand that the Telangana Government, Chief Minister KCR, and Health Minister Harish Rao remove him from his position.”

Alleging that Srinivasa Rao has “forgotten” his job, the VHP leader added that the Director is “preaching like a pastor” while also adding that there should be taken against him for his “anti-Hindu comments”.

Furthermore, he stated “He should have quit and became a preacher if he had to make such things. However, in his position, he should not have done so. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad strongly condemns this. We don’t object if he wants to be a preacher, but we condemn him for acting in such a way as the director of health.”

Rao issued a statement earlier today explaining his statements during the charity trust’s Christmas celebrations in Kothagudem town, which sparked outrage in the media.
