Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, is travelling to the United States for five days to attend the Global Clean Energy Action Forum.
Singh will serve as the head of the Joint Indian Ministerial Delegation of Power, New and Renewable Energy, and Science and Technology From September 21 to September 23, 2022, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, in the United States of America. He will also interact with prominent academicians and members of the Indian diaspora during this time.

To promote clean energy innovation and deployment, the event is anticipated to bring together thousands of clean energy leaders worldwide, including CEOs, inventors, young professionals, civil society, and ministers from over 30 nations.
Dr. Jitendra Singh will host a significant roundtable on September 20 at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Washington, D.C., with senior executives from about 35 businesses and federal representatives involved in the geospatial, space, earth and ocean science, pharmaceutical, and biotech sectors.
In order to accelerate the development of Clean Energy Solutions, India will highlight significant initiatives in the fields of Bio-Refineries, Sustainable Aviation Fuels, Materials Accelerated Platform, Building Energy Efficiency (Smart Grids), Carbon Capture, and Hydrogen Valley Platforms, among others.
Since the 1972 Stockholm Conference, there has been much talk but very little action. However, in India, we have walked the walk, and initiatives like the Ujjwala Yojana, which provides clean cooking fuel to 90 million households, and the PM-KUSUM scheme, which encourages farmers to install solar panels, use them, and sell any excess power to the grid, will promote sustainability and equity, the Union Minister added.
After opening up select industries and easing restrictions on foreign direct investment (FDI), the Minister would reportedly urge businesses to investigate and participate in these booming areas.
The Minister is anticipated to speak with important US federal officials at a luncheon sponsored by the Indian Ambassador at India House.
Dr. Singh will participate in a number of events at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum on September 21 and 22, where he is likely to emphasise India’s commitment to a low-carbon future that aims to change the nation’s energy landscape by accelerating clean energy innovations under the inspirational leadership of PM Modi.
The minister is anticipated to discuss India’s strategy to strive toward changing the energy landscape with a sizable share of clean energy at the first roundtable on sustainable bioenergy and bio-refineries on September 22.
India has made significant commitments, according to the ministry, including reaching 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, converting 50% of its energy needs to renewable sources, lowering overall anticipated carbon emissions by 1 billion tonnes, cutting the economy’s carbon intensity by 45% from 2005 levels, and finally achieving net zero emissions by 2070.
At the 2nd Roundtable, he is scheduled to go into further detail on how India has supported technology deployment and research development with an investment of 34.3 million USD over the past ten years.
During a community reception, Singh will engage with prominent diaspora members and highlight India’s celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.
