US Sikh family murder: 1st degree murder charge filed

First-degree murder were brought against Jesus Manuel Salgado on Monday, one for each of the four Sikh family members who were brutally slain in California.

According to media sources, Jesus Manuel Salgado was charged on Monday with four charges of first-degree murder, one for each of the four Sikh family members who were brutally murdered in the US state of California.

The Sikh family was kidnapped, together with Jasdeep Singh, 36, Jasleen Kaur, 27, Aroohi Dheri, their 8-month-old infant, and Amandeep Singh, 39. Later, in a distant orchard in Merced County, the remains of four family members who were originally from Punjab in India were found lying next to one another. In addition, Salgado is accused of setting fire to the truck and having a handgun in his hands without a permit.

According to the Merced County District Attorney’s Office, Salgado might spend the rest of his life behind bars without the chance of release, according to Sacramento, California news station KCRA.

The Indian-Origin family was taken from their trucking company in Merced on Monday morning at gunpoint, according to the authorities. The kidnapping was caught on security footage. After a family car was discovered that morning burned out and abandoned, the police discovered the missing persons.

All four family members’ remains were later found by the police. A suspect has been detained in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a newborn and three other members of a family of Indian descent in California.

The suspect had been getting medical care and made an attempt at suicide before being apprehended. Records from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation show that Salgado served nearly ten years in jail after being found guilty of attempted false imprisonment, first-degree robbery, and possession of a controlled narcotic.
