L-G VK Saxena established a committee to simplify and facilitate the licencing processes for restaurants, dining establishments, and hotels in an effort to improve Delhi’s nightlife and nighttime economy, according to authorities.
The L-G house claims that the action is a continuation of his recent decision to permit 314 establishments—online delivery services for food, medications, logistics, transport, and travel services, as well as other essential commodities aside from KPOs and BPOs—to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to officials, the panel would include top personnel from the IT Department, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), MCD, Delhi Police, Fire Services, and NDMC and will be led by the Principal Secretary (Home). It will, among other things, decrease the number of licences, modify and eliminate antiquated rules founded in inferior law, guarantee minimal documentation, and set deadlines for licence issuance, etc. The L-G house said that “the L-G has asked the committee to provide its report/recommendations in 15 days.”
“Hospitality enterprises… are subject to registration/licensing and inspecting by police, municipal bodies, fire department, and DPCC,” according to officials. Changes are anticipated to not only bring a great deal of relief to business but also to the night time economy.
