Aside from the UNSC, Madagascar has continuously backed India’s bids in recent years for membership in a number of international organisations, including the Djibouti Code of Conduct, the Indian Ocean Commission, and the UNSC non-permanent seat (2021–2022).

Madagascar is a beneficiary of India’s Duty-Free Preferential Tariff Scheme because it is a Least Developed Country. Coffee, tea, mate, spices, essential oils and resinoids, perfumery products, cosmetics, and toiletries, salt, sulphur, earth and stone, plastering supplies, lime, and cement, edible crops, as well as certain roots and tubers, are the main goods that Madagascar exports to India.
