A massive fire that broke out in the shops of Bhagirath Palace market in Chandni Chowk in the national capital last evening raged on Friday morning, despite efforts to put it out.

According to Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg, several fire tenders are on the scene and efforts are being made to extinguish the fire. However, no casualties have been recorded.

Earlier on Friday, official stated that “situation is not very good,” and that a large portion of structure has been destroyed.

Atul Garg, Director of the Delhi Fire Service, stated “Situation is now not favourable. There are 40 fire trucks on the scene. The fire will be out before dawn. So yet, no fatalities have been recorded. A large portion of structure has been damaged.”

Former Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, who visited the scene early this morning, stated that the main structure that caught fire was progressively falling due to two storeys being entirely destroyed.

According to fire department, fire tenders were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report about the incident at 9:19 p.m. on Thursday.
