Miranda House College Fest: Delhi Police take suo moto cognizance

Delhi Police has taken suo moto notice and launched an FIR against certain unknown individuals.

In response to a video that went viral showing a few guys attempting to enter the all-women Miranda House in the nation’s capital during a Diwali Mela event organised by the institution, Delhi Police has taken suo moto notice and launched an FIR against certain unknown individuals.

The DCP North Delhi issued the following statement on Friday: “The Miranda House College administration locked the gates on October 14 due to the large throng that had gathered for the Diwali Mela that was organised there on the North Campus.

Some kids attempted to scale the walls but were unsuccessful. The event ran without incident. No official complaint has yet been received.”

On social media, a video purporting to be of the incident at the Delhi University All Women College showed some guys scaling the wall to enter the institution.


Based on this, the Delhi Police said on Monday that a complaint has been filed and that it has taken suo moto note of the situation.


According to a tweet from the DCP North Delhi, “investigation will follow.”

A tweet on the microblogging website claimed that a Twitter account, whose bio identified the person as a college student, had released a video showing guys allegedly scaling the institution’s complex wall.

“During an open festival, men climbed over the walls to enter Miranda House. What happened next was awful. groping, misogynistic epithets, catcalling, and more. Although it is nothing new for men to abuse gender minorities in public places, they consistently outdo themselves, “the tweeter user posted.
