PM In Varanasi: PM to inaugurate 3 day Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam today

Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Banaras Hindu University, will host the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam

Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Banaras Hindu University, will host the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam, which will be officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.

The three-day seminars, according to the Ministry of Education, will bring together more than 300 Vice-Chancellors and Directors from public and private universities, educators, policymakers, as well as industry representatives to discuss how National Education Policy 2020 can be implemented more broadly across the nation following the successful implementation of several initiatives over the previous two years. Yogi Adityanath, the chief executive of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, the governor of that state, and Dharmendra Pradhan, the minister of education for the federal government, will all be in attendance.

According to a release from the Education Ministry, “The Summit will give prominent Indian higher education institutions (HEIs) a forum to discuss, deliberate, and exchange ideas on approaches, success stories, and best practices in executing the National Education Policy, 2020.”

Ministry, in collaboration with UGC and AICTE, has introduced a number of policy initiatives, including Academic Bank of Credit, Multiple Entry-Exit, Multidisciplinary, and Flexibility in Higher Education, as well as regulations aimed at promoting online and open distance learning. The National Curriculum Framework has also been revised to be more in line with international standards.

Further ministry added that while many colleges have jumped on the reform bandwagon, many more still need to embrace and adapt to the changes. In-depth conversations are needed to move the policy implementation forward because the higher education ecosystem in the country covers the federal government, the states, and private organizations.

Summit is anticipated to serve as a forum for stimulating debates that will outline the roadmap and implementation strategies, promote knowledge sharing and the development of networks through interdisciplinary discussions, and address problems that educational institutions are currently facing and propose solutions.

The approval of the Varanasi Declaration on Higher Education, which will demonstrate India’s expanded vision and a renewed commitment to assist in achieving the goals of the higher education system, would be the main event of the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam, it was noted.
