The Union Cabinet has given its approval for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on educational collaboration to be signed by the Indian Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education of the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

According to a release from the Ministry of Education, the main goal of the signing of the MoU is to broaden the scope of engagements between the two countries while supporting the current educational partnership between India and the UAE.
According to the release, the MoU aims to promote information sharing, capacity development of TVET teaching staff, and the facilitation of academic collaboration between higher education institutions in both countries for the delivery of joint degree and dual degree programmes.

The MoU will automatically renew with the approval of both sides after five years from the date of signing, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Education. Between India and the UAE, it will revitalise educational collaboration and boost academic mobility.

An MoU in the area of education was signed with the UAE earlier in 2015; it ran out in 2018.

The UAE suggested to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that took into account improvements made by the National Education Policy 2020 in India’s educational ecosystem in 2019 during a meeting between the education ministers of the two nations.
