According to police sources, Mumbai Police is looking into a WhatsApp message that warned of a “26/11-like” terror strike in the city and was sent to Mumbai Police Traffic Control’s account from a Pakistan-based number on Saturday.

Suspicious message stated that assault would be carried out in India by six persons. According to reports, Mumbai Police has launched an investigation right away and security agencies have been put on notice.

WhatsApp message discussed bringing back memories of the assaults on November 26, 2008, when the Pakistani terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba attacked Mumbai.

Ajit Pawar, leader of the opposition for the Nationalist Congress Party, stated today that the state administration should investigate the threat and take it seriously.

A boat with an AK-47, rifles, firearms, and ammo was discovered on the Harihareshwar beach in the state’s Raigad region on Thursday, raising security concerns. Maharashtra Police has been notified that the boat has been recovered and requested to exercise caution.

The yacht is owned by an Australian citizen, according to Devendra Fadnavis, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra.

He further added “People were saved by a Korean boat when the boat’s engine malfunctioned in the water. Now it is in Harihareshwar beach. Police and the administration have been told to get ready for the next holiday season.”

Earlier on November 26, 2008, ten Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists from Pakistan who had travelled by sea opened fire on Mumbai, killing hundreds of civilians, including 18 security guards.

Later, security personnel comprising the NSG, nation’s top commando squad, killed nine terrorists. The only terrorist who was arrested alive was Ajmal Kasab. Four years later, on November 21, 2012, he was hung.
