As party members left for Kolkata to participate in Nabanna Abhiyan on Tuesday, a fight broke out between BJP members and police at the Raniganj train station.


In Raniganj, the police detained numerous workers as a preventative measure.


Further, as police prohibited BJP members from travelling to Kolkata to take part in the Nabanna Chalo march, a fight broke out between the two groups inside the Bolpur train station. Many employees were detained.

“Police barred paths to railway stations as hundreds of BJP members travelled towards Kolkata to attend BJP’s Nabanna march by trains. 20 of our workers were stopped by police near Durgapur railway station. I arrived here through alternate paths,” said BJP leader Abhijit Dutta.

In the meantime, police deployed a lot of officers to thwart the BJP’s Nabanna Abhiyan. To stop the parade, Kolkata’s borders have been blocked off and are being guarded.

There are barriers blocking a number of the city’s roads. The West Bengal Police have created a fortress in a 5-kilometer radius around Nabanna to stop the procession.

“The Nabanna Chalo Abhiyan preparations have been done. It is not just the BJP’s protest, but the protest of all Bengalis. Mamata Banerjee has to clarify why her administration has misled the people of Bengal,” BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul said on Monday.

The West Bengal Home Secretary has till September 19 to submit a report regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “Nabanna Abhijan,” per a request from the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday.

Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, and MP Locket Chatterjee were both detained by the Kolkata Police before to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) protest march to the state secretariat, “Nabanna,” on Tuesday.


When they were in charge of the Nabanna Chalo Abhiyan in Kolkata, BJP leaders were taken into custody from Hastings. BJP leader Rahul Sinha, Adhikari, and Chatterjee were brought to the Lalbazar headquarters of the Kolkata Police. In the meantime, police deployed a lot of officers to thwart the BJP’s Nabanna Abhiyan. To stop the parade, Kolkata’s borders have been blocked off and are being guarded. Howrah has also been heavily barricaded in preparation for the BJP march.
