Judicial custody of the head of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former minister, Nawab Malik has been extended for an additional 14 days. The decision was made by a Mumbai court on Wednesday.

Malik is currently being treated in a hospital in Kurla. He has been taken to a private hospital in Mumbai for more than four months.

Earlier in September, Enforcement Directorate (ED) asked the special PMLA court to create a medical board to assess his health.

Later, Arthur Road Jail Administration has submitted a plea to the PMLA Court claiming that Nawab Malik can be transported to the hospital using jail resources.

Malik has spent more than four months at a posh hospital in Mumbai’s Kurla neighbourhood. The NCP leader was ordered to receive treatment for six weeks by the court.

Moreover, ED petitioned the special PMLA court to establish a medical board to assess Nawab Malik’s health on Thrusday.

ED detained Nawab Malik in connection with a property transaction that was reportedly connected to Dawood Ibrahim’s henchmen on February 23.
