Nitish Kumar took Chief Minister oath at 2 pm on August 10. Nitish break his partnership with the BJP and step down as coalition Chief Minister, only to stake his claim once more with Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD as his deputy.

Lalu Yadav’s family has reached Raj Bhavan for the swearing-in ceremony. It includes Rabri Devi, Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav’s wife Rachel. Big leaders of other party or state have not been invited to this function. At the same time, Lalu Yadav is undergoing treatment in Delhi, so he too has not been able to reach Patna.

In July 2017, Nitish Kumar, left the Mahagathbandhan in July 17, over corruption allegations against Tejashwi Yadav and joined hands with the BJP.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took oath as the deputy chief minister, in a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Patna.

Nitish and Tejaswi shook hands in ceremony and are ready to run government.

Nitish Kumar said while targeting BJP, “The party made the decision together (to leave BJP)…whether I will stay or not (till 2024)…they can say what they want, but I will not live in the year 2014”.
