Nomination Process For Second Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections Across 12 States/UTs Set To Commence Today

The States/UTs included in Phase 2 are Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, in addition to one part PC in Manipur (Outer Manipur).

The Election Commission of India has released the notification for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, scheduled to take place on April 26. According to the notification issued on Wednesday, nominations for the second phase will begin on Thursday.

This phase will cover a total of 88 parliamentary constituencies (PCs) spread across 12 States/Union Territories, including one part of Manipur (Outer Manipur). The gazette notification for elections in the Outer Manipur PC was already included in the notification issued for phase 1.

In the Outer Manipur PC, 15 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) will go to polls on April 19, 2024 (Phase 1), while 13 ACs will go to polls on April 26, 2024 (Phase 2).

The States/UTs included in Phase 2 are Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, in addition to one part PC in Manipur (Outer Manipur).

The Election Commission had announced the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on March 16. The elections will be conducted in seven phases nationwide, starting from April 19 and concluding on June 1. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4.
