The incident occurred on March 1, 2024, at approximately 8:47 pm, when a woman made a PCR call to the Jagatpuri police station, reporting the harrowing attack on her daughter by the neighbor’s pitbull.

Responding swiftly to the call, police personnel reached the scene and found the victim, along with her mother, at their residence on Gali No. 2 in Jagatpuri. The girl bore visible bite marks on her body, indicating the severity of the attack.

Following the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the police took action by registering a case against the owner of the pitbull, identified as Shivanand Bhaskar, a resident of Jagatpuri. The charges filed against him include sections 289 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), pertaining to negligent conduct likely to cause hurt and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others.

Providing further details, the authorities stated that the incident occurred around 6 pm, after which the victim was promptly taken to a local doctor for treatment. Subsequently, she was referred to Hedgewar Hospital for a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) examination, underscoring the gravity of the injuries sustained in the attack.
