Comedian-actor Raju Srivastav was cremated on Thursday morning at Delhi’s Nigam Bodh Ghat, his son Ayushman officiating the last rites.

Sunil Pal and Ahsaan Qureshi, two of Srivastav’s close pals, attended his burial. Surendra Sharma, a seasoned comic, too paid his homage to Raju Srivastav.

Earlier on Wednesday, 58-year-old Srivastav passed away. Since being hospitalised to the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 10 as a result of a heart attack, he has been kept alive by life support.

The comedian, who had been working in the entertainment business since 1980s, became well-known in 2005 after taking part in the inaugural season of the reality stand-up comedy series “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.”

Additionally, he entered politics to help the country. He first entered politics in 2014 with the Samajwadi Party (where he was even selected the Kanpur Lok Sabha candidate), but within a short time he switched to the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit have all sent their condolences to Raju Srivastav’s family.
