Sanjay Singh, an Aam Aadmi Party MP, tore a defamation notice handed by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena over the khadi scam claims on Wednesday. This was the latest instance in Delhi’s feud between the AAP and the L-G.

According to the AAP, the Lieutenant Governor, who was selected by the union government, is carrying out a “political vendetta” on orders from the Centre’s governing BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The AAP has accused him of many violations while he was head of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) from 2015 to early 2022. Durgesh Pathak, an AAP MLA, stated in assembly that he pressed KVIC personnel to swap demonetised notes worth Rs 1400 crore in 2016. Furthermore, the party claimed that he abused his position by awarding a contract for interior design of a Khadi Lounge in Mumbai to his daughter.

“As a Rajya Sabha member, I have the authority to say the truth. I’m not frightened of legal notifications delivered by a thief or a crooked individual,” Sanjay Singh stated before shedding the notice into pieces.

“L-G stole the money of 2.5 lakh craftsmen. He issues a legal notice when we unearth the corruption. A CBI-ED investigation into L-G Saxena should be launched to determine where the plundered money is stored. I may rip and discard such notices ten times,” he stated during the press conference.

L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena issued a legal notice to AAP leaders including Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh, and Jasmine Shah on Monday for making “derogatory and malicious” allegations against him.

The notice demanded that the AAP leaders publish a press release “directing all members of the party and all people affiliated with it, whether directly or indirectly, to halt and desist from propagating and circulating false, defamatory, malicious, and unfounded comments.”
