Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM Stalin inspects rain-affected areas

MK Stalin, the CM of Tamil Nadu, visited districts that had been flooded and impacted by rain. He noted that the state’s public works and water drainage departments were at work there.

MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, reviewed rain-affected and waterlogged areas on Sunday and stated that the water drainage department and the public works department are working in the state’s waterlogged areas.

He said that although there is no risk, the state would continue to endure rain. He added that he would be at the state’s Nagapattinam District’s Seerkazhi district to assess the areas impacted by the recent rains.

In order to conduct an inspection, I’m going to Seerkazhi tonight, followed by Mayiladuthurai and Cuddalore, stated Stalin.

When questioned about the standing water in various areas in North Chennai, he responded, “Where is the water stagnating? Show me. There may be some water stagnation only during wet seasons, but this eventually goes away.”

Chennai was expected to have Sunday afternoon showers and thunderstorms, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Tamil Nadu was placed under a red alert by the Met Department.

The torrential rain that has fallen since Friday has caused flooding in a few areas of Chennai, adding to the problems of the common people.

The coastal regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to experience heavy rains from the depression that formed in the Bay of Bengal for the next three days, according to earlier predictions from the IMD. The depression is expected to move towards the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as an intense depression by Saturday.

The Meteorological Department reported that “Puducherry and surrounding areas have been receiving widespread heavy rains due to the low-pressure area since last night,” adding that the relentless rains in areas like Bussi Road, Laspettai East Coast Road, and Karuvadikuppam are flooding, forcing the motorists to suffer.

Notably, rainwater is also present all around low-lying regions like Rainbow Nagar and Krishna Nagar.
