After negotiations with the administration, family members of a van driver slain in a recent attack on a school bus in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region terminated their day-long sit-in on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, armed men opened fire on a school vehicle in Khyber, killing the driver and injured two students.
The demonstrators demanded the arrest of those responsible for the attack and threatened to march to Islamabad if the authorities did not satisfy their demands within 24 hours, according to the Dawn daily.
According to Dawn, the shooting occurred in Swat’s Char Bagh district, a day after the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai by the proscribed group TTP. According to the report, the event occurred on Monday outside the Knowledge City School in the Guli Bagh neighborhood.
According to one of the demonstrators who gathered in Swat on Tuesday, the rally was called off after the government pledged to apprehend the perpetrators quickly.

District Police Officer (DPO) Zahid Marwat told Dawn earlier on Monday that there were 15 children inside the van at the time of the incident. According to Marwat, the body and injured student have been sent to Khwazakhela Hospital.
