Tamil Nadu Heavy rains: Holiday for schools in Chennai, Ranipet, Thiruvallur

The state government decided to close schools in the districts of Chennai, Ranipet, and Thiruvallur today due to the flooding caused by overnight rain and the prediction for heavy rainfall.

For the next few days, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu, among other neighbouring districts, will see heavy to very heavy rainfall, according to the Regional Meteorological Department’s projection for Chennai through November 2. Due to the severe rainfall in the area, schools and institutions will continue to be closed in Chennai, Ranipet, and Thiruvallur. Schools will also continue to be closed in Vellore, Kanjipuram, Vilupuram, and Chengalpattu, according to the information supplied by the various district collectors.

Students at the Thirupathur School up until eighth grade will have a holiday, according to the Thirupathur District Collector.
