Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to attend SCO Defence Ministers' Meeting in Tashkent

Uzbekistan, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting will be attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on August 24 in Tashkent.

Rajnath Singh will be in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from August 23 to August 25 to attend the annual meeting of the Defence Ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Defense Cooperation problems among the SCO Member States will be considered during the Annual Meeting, and it is anticipated that a common communiqué will be released following the discussions. The meeting’s speech by Rajnath Singh is scheduled for August 24, 2022.

Raksha Mantri will meet his Uzbekistan counterpart, Lieutenant General Bakhodir Kurbanov, the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Minister of Defense, during his visit to Tashkent.

On the fringes of this summit, discussions with the defence ministers of several other SCO members are also planned, where bilateral matters and subjects of shared interest will be discussed. Rajnath Singh will visit the memorial to the late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri when he is in Tashkent, and he will also meet with members of the Indian diaspora in Uzbekistan, it was noted.

Earlier, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, urged for tough action against terrorism and drug trafficking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) interior minister conference in Uzbekistan.
