Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin actively participated in a campaign for the DMK candidate KE Prakash in Erode for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. During his morning stroll, he engaged with locals at Uzahavar Santhai, Sampath Nagar, where a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of him and take selfies as he walked through the streets of Erode.

The DMK announced its initial list of candidates on March 20 this year. Kalanidhi Veerasami, Tamilachi Thangapandian, and Dayanidhi Maran have been nominated by the DMK to contest from North Chennai, South Chennai, and Central Chennai respectively. Kanimozhi will be representing the Thuthukudi constituency, where she previously won. Other candidates include TR Balu for Sriperumbatur, Jagathrachahan for Arakonam, Kadhir Anand for Vellore, Annadurai for Thiruvanamalai, Dharani for Aarani, Selvagapathi for Salem, Prakash for Erode, A Raja for Niligiri, Ganapathi Rajkumar for Kovai, Arun Neru for Perambalur, Murasoli for Tanjore, Thanga Tamil Selvam for Theni, and Rani for Thenkasi.

Tamil Nadu has 39 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the major political players being the DMK, AIADMK, and AMMK. The state is scheduled to vote on April 19 in a single phase. In the 2019 general elections, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Secular Progressive Alliance, which included INC, VCK, MDMK, CPI, CPI(M), IUML, MMK, KMDK, TVK, AIFB, secured a resounding victory by winning 38 out of the 39 seats.
