Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun: Maverick is currently the sixth-highest earner at the US box office. Additionally, the box office earnings of Top Gun: Maverick have eclipsed those of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. According to an entertainment media outlet, Top Gun: Maverick has generated more than $679 million in North America, surpassing Infinity War, which brought in $678 million. Top Gun: Maverick has made more than $700 million worldwide, without having played in China or Russia, two significant international marketplaces. The United Kingdom ($95 million), Japan ($82 million), Korea ($62 million), Australia ($60 million), and France ($52.8 million) are the top-earning nations outside of North America. With $1.379 billion at the worldwide box office so far, it ranks as the 13th-highest film ever.

The movie is the sequel to the 1986 smash hit Top Gun, which starred Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, and Val Kilmer as the key characters. It was one of the year’s biggest box office successes. With $1.5 billion from abroad and $2.2 billion globally, the movie has also eclipsed Titanic as the most well-liked production from Paramount Studios.

Since its debut in May, the movie has been a box office force, earning $160.5 million in its first weekend. The movie held a top-five spot in the weekend rankings for ten weeks. It is Tom’s first movie to earn over $100 million in a single weekend and surpass $1 billion worldwide.

Regarding the storyline of Top Gun: Maverick, directed by Joseph Kosinski, starts up decades after the first film and follows Cruise’s Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he prepares a young crew of pilots for a perilous mission. Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, and Val Kilmer, who portrayed Iceman in the original Top Gun, are among the cast members.

The top five US movies of all time are Black Panther ($700 million), Avatar ($760 million), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($804 million), Avengers: Endgame ($853 million), and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936 million).
