USIBC expresses support towards the strengthening ties between US and India during PM’s state visit to US

USIBC President Atul Keshap supports stronger US-India defense ties for shared prosperity, praising PM Modi and President Biden’s leadership.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit, Atul Keshap, President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC), on 21st June, Wednesday, expressed his support for strengthening defense ties between the United States and India. He emphasized the aim of developing strong defense cooperation for the shared prosperity of both nations.

Keshap highlighted the strategic, economic, and technological convergence between the US and India. He praised the leadership of PM Modi and President Joe Biden in elevating bilateral relations. He also emphasized the collaboration between US and India within the Quad framework, working towards a free and open Indo-Pacific, ensuring sovereignty and equal opportunities for all nations. Keshap believes in peaceful dispute resolution and stressed the importance of robust defence ties for the safety of both countries’ populations. During the USIBC’s ‘India Ideas Summit,’ he described PM Modi’s visit as a significant moment and termed the US-India partnership as resilient, having witnessed a transformation in bilateral ties during his presidency.

Atul Keshap, talked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s current inaugural state visit to the United States. He expressed the forum’s commitment to enhance defence ties between the two long-standing allies for the collective prosperity of both the nations.

In an interview with ANI, the senior US diplomat stated, “We are trying to help the US and India develop the strongest possible defence ties for our shared prosperity. The state visit of PM Modi marks the strategic, economic and technological convergence of the United States and India.” Keshap expressed his enthusiasm for PM Modi’s visit, which includes addressing a special joint session of the US Congress and being hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at a state dinner. He further remarked, “, “I am really excited about this and I think that PM Modi and President Biden have shown real leadership in taking our countries to the next great level.”

Regarding bilateral relations between India and the US, Keshap emphasized that both countries are collaborating to ensure that all nations in the Indo-Pacific region. Also that they can exercise sovereignty and enjoy equal opportunities to support their citizens. He highlighted their partnership as Quad members, working together to establish a free and open Indo-Pacific. Keshap mentioned a recent meeting with the Quad’s defense staff in California, underscoring the shared commitment of the US and India to uphold the sovereignty and well-being of all Indo-Pacific nations. He emphasized their belief in peaceful dispute resolution and the importance of robust defence ties in ensuring the safety of their respective populations.

During the ‘India Ideas Summit’ organized by the USIBC in Washington DC, Keshap, the former US envoy to India, described PM Modi’s ongoing visit as a momentous occasion. He referred to the partnership between the two countries as resilient, having witnessed significant transformation in bilateral ties during his two-year tenure as the USIBC President.
