ICC T20I Player Rankings: Virat Kohli climbs to No. 9 position

Former India captain Virat Kohli moved up five spots to land in the ninth spot in the most recent ICC Men’s Player Rankings

Following his exploits against Pakistan in the present ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, former India captain Virat Kohli moved up five spots to land in the ninth spot in the most recent ICC Men’s Player Rankings.

Earlier on Sunday, Kohli led Men in Blue to a dramatic last-ball triumph over Pakistan in Melbourne. Kohli’s unbroken 82-run innings propelled the “Chasemaster” back into the top 10 among hitters. The 33-year-magnificent old’s 53-ball stay at the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was adorned with six fours and four big sixes, and he duly strolled up five positions to ninth on the most recent set of player rankings that were announced by the ICC on Wednesday.

However, Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan continues to be the top batter while Devon Conway of New Zealand has moved up three spots to second after scoring an unbeaten 92 against Australia in the T20 World Cup, posing a new threat to Rizwan’s dominance.

In the opening game of the Super 12s on Saturday, Conway and Finn Allen (42 off 16) teamed to put the defending T20 World Cup winners on the back foot by hammering the Australian attack to all areas of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) during their 58-ball innings.

Conway surpasses Indian Suryakumar Yadav, Pakistani captain Babar Azam, and experienced South African Aiden Markram during this innings, putting him in striking distance to challenge Rizwan for the top slot with a career-high rating of 831 rating points.

Allen is also progressing, and his gallant inning against Australia saw him climb a staggering 17 spots to tie for 13th place overall among hitters.
