Andra Pradesh: 35 people involved in cannabis smuggling arrested in Visakhapatnam

According to authorities, the Visakhapatnam police’s “Anti-Gunda Squad” and “Anti Narcotic Squad” apprehended up to 35 history teachers who were involved in importing marijuana and other narcotics on Saturday.

The young men who were detained were charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and additional inquiries have been opened in coordination with the Anti Narcotic Drugs Team. Ch Srikanth, the commissioner of the Visakhapatnam City Police, told ANI, “35 rowdy-sheeters (history-sheeters), who were engaged in unlawful activities in Visakhapatnam city, have been detained. The majority of the accused are from Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Northern India.”

Commissioner announced the formation of two squads, one called the “Anti-Gunda squad” and the other the “Anti-Narcotics squad,” each with ten members, to investigate drug dealing and rowdy behaviour, respectively.

According to Srikanth, marijuana is being trafficked out of Odisha and the United Visakhapatnam agency.

In order to acquire information on the ganja trade, money extortion, and other illegal acts, Commissioner Ch Srikanth instructed the squad to send informants into the city. Following this incident, the commissioner also made the decision to focus more of his efforts on bringing the accused of similar crimes to justice.

Additionally, Commissioner Ch Srikanth instructed the authorities to make a special effort to apprehend any obnoxious sheeters or their assistants who were engaged in the ganja trade. Additionally, the Commissioner gave the police specific instructions to locate their network and thoroughly look into each accusation and suspect.
