Reliance had sent an official letter to the 3 operators informing them that its services would be commencing from Sept 5

New Delhi: Reliance Jio, the biggest rival of the three main telecom operators — Airtel, Vodafone and Idea — has sought the help of telecom industry watchdog, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to probe the matter of the three giants refusing to avail the portability facility to their own subscribers, in order to let them switch to Reliance network.
Reliance had sent an official letter to the three operators informing them that its services would be commencing from September 5.
In a letter written to TRAI, Reliance Jio informed that even after valid requests were made by the subscribers for porting their number, the dominant operators rejected all the requests made.
The letter also mentioned that out of the 201 total requests made, violation of contractual obligations was made by 161 and the other 8 were subject to wrong coding.
Also, the above-mentioned rejections are in addition to the other 4919 corporate mobile number portability requests, the numbers which were issued to the members of the Reliance Industries Group by Bharti Airtel in August 2016.
However, this comes a day after Reliance Jio welcomed Bharti Airtel’s gesture of providing better interconnection for its calls.
