This is one actor who is making inroads in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. In just a span of four years, Harish Uthman has worked with everyone from Thalapathy Vijay to Mahesh Babu in the south. In this exclusive interview with NewsX, Harish Uthaman talks about his upcoming film ‘Nenjil Thunivirundhal’ directed by Suseenthiran. But he says his journey so far has had its struggles.

“I was part of the cabin crew with Paramount Airways and British Airways before my entry into films. I was offered a role by Suriya Prabhakaran and made my debut in 2010. After than for nearly two and a half years, I was idle at home and got frustrated. There were just no opportunities coming my way. I had decided to go back to flying when director Radha Mohan offered me ‘Gouravam’,” says Harish.

Today, Harish Uthaman has done numerous character roles and says that he doesn’t choose a role based on length but rather on whether it is significant. He has played a villain in many movies as well as a cop. “I’ve played a cop many times – but every cop role is different if you see the films,” he explains. Now, Harish wants to expand his horizons and look at rom-coms as well.

“I missed out on some big films because of date issues. I would like to work more in Malayalam films and possibly Kannada,” smiles Harish. The actor is a huge fan of Kamal Haasan but one person he wants to share screen space with again is none other than Thalapathy Vijay! “Vijay is such an encouraging and motivating person. He was wonderful to work with in ‘Bairavaa’. I want to work with him again,” says Harish.
