Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army chief General Raheel Sharif is slated to visit Afghanistan on Sunday, December 27.
The Army chief will hold meetings with Afghanistan’s political and military leadership during his one-day trip to Kabul, Geo TV reported.
This visit is taking place after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew to Kabul from Moscow on Friday for a brief halt in Lahore where he met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, before he flew back to India in the evening. It was Modi’s first visit to Pakistan and the first by an Indian prime minister in more than a decade. Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had visited Pakistan in 2004.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif welcomed the initiative of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Lahore. Modi was warmly welcomed by Sharif, who then took the PM to his ancestral home in Raiwind.
The two had also met in Paris during COP-21 and had also had a surprise meeting in Bangkok.
