New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his greetings to the royal couple of Bhutan on the birth of their first child.
"Congratulations to Their Majesties the King and Queen of Bhutan on birth of their first child The Gyalsey," Modi tweeted.
The first child of Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema was delivered safely on Friday, the queen's Facebook page announced on Saturday.
"Our happiness knows no bounds, as we announce the Royal Birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey on February 5, 2016," said the queen's Facebook post.
According the Facebook post, both the queen and her son are in perfect health.
The Bhutanese king, in a cerimonious occasion which was covered widely in Bhutan, married the queen in 2011.
