Earthquake: Historic Dharahara Tower collapses in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Built in 19th century, historic Dharahara Tower collapsed in the Nepal’s capital Kathmandu following a severe earthquake on Saturday at 11:41 AM. 

As the police cordoned the area, at least one body was removed, a witness said and 50 others were reported to be trapped inside the tower. (Also Read: Nepal’s historic Dharahara Tower collapses in earthquake, over 100 feared dead)

Built in 1832, the Dharahara Tower was a historic attraction that was open to visitors for the last 10 years and had a viewing balcony on its eighth floor.

While one body was recovered from the tower and second lay further up the reports, it was not immediately clear on how many people were actually in the multi-storey building when it collapsed.
