Google Executive dies on Mt. Everest

NEW YORK: An avalanche at Mount Everest followed a powerful earthquake that rocked Nepal on Saturday. A Google executive, Dan Fredinburg from California, who was at Base camp on Mount Everest, died the same day suffering from head injury during an avalanche.

Google on its website confirmed his death and posted, “Fredinburg was in Nepal with three other team members, climbing Mount Everest. The other three are safe.”

Fredinburg’s sister Megan on Saturday wrote on Instagram, saying “I regret to inform all who loved him that during the avalanche of Everest early this morning, our Dan suffered from a major head injury and didn't make it.”

‘One Tree Hill’ actress Sophia Bush on the other hand is left heartbroken as her former boyfriend Dan Fredinburg could not survive the calamity and was tragically killed in a Mount Everest avalanche.

In an emotional Instagram post, Bush remembered Fredinburg as ‘one-of-a-kind’ and wrote, “There are no adequate words. Today I find myself attempting to pick up the pieces of my heart that have broken into such tiny shards, I'll likely never find them all,” adding, Dan Fredinburg was one-of-a-kind... He was one of my favourite human beings on Earth.

Fredinburg was an experienced climber and started working at Google in 2007 and was the head of privacy at Google X.
