NEW YORK: Just days after 57-yr-old Sureshbhai Patel, who was paralysed due to brutal attack by police in Alabama, another Indian, who was living in US, has been shot dead in New Jersey on Sunday.

A 28-year-old Indian-American businessman was gunned down by an unidentified assailant in his family-owned liquor shop in the US.

The Indian, Amit Patel, from Edison was shot in New Jersey inside Roseway Liquors. Patel was alone in the liquor store, owned by his father, when the assailant shot at him at close range.

When police arrived at the store, they found Patel injured. Later, he was pronounced dead.

According to the close family friends, when the shooting took place, Patel's father was in the back office. Patel got married just one year ago.

They were looking into the probe whether it may have been the result of a robbery, said authorities, adding but it was too early in the probe to be sure.

The CCTV footage will be examined in the case but according to the report, no arrests have been made so far.
