New Delhi: The relation between the two Asian giants, India and China has always been a complex one. However, at a time when tensions between the two countries over maritime territories claimed by China have seen a swift rise, a report by the Pentagon suggests that China has increased its defence capabilities along the border with India.
The report has been strongly condemned by Beijing as deliberate distortion damaging the mutual trust.
In its annual report to Congress on Chinese military activities, the US Defense Department reportedly said on Friday that China is expected to add substantial military infrastructure, including communications and surveillance systems, to artificial islands in the South China Sea this year.
Washington has accused Beijing of militarizing the South China Sea while Beijing, in turn, has criticized increased US naval patrols and exercises in Asia.
