50 dead in shooting at Orlando gay nightclub; 53 taken to hospitals

Florida: The number of dead in the Orlando gay nightclub shooting has gone up to 50. An additional 53 injured have been rushed to local hospitals.

The gunman who opened fire in the shooting incident which occurred in the nightclub at Orlando, Florida was shot dead by officers. 

One of the police officials was also shot at by the gunman but the helmet the officer was wearing saved him.




A message on a Facebook account for the Pulse club in Orlando posted "Everyone get out of Pulse and keep running”.

Earlier Orlando Police had tweeted that there have been multiple injuries in the shooting and warned the public to stay away from the area.

According to reports, the suspect also wore a bomb and held many people hostage inside the bar.

The incident took place a day after ‘The Voice’ singing star Christina Grimmie was gunned down at a concert in the Florida city of St Petersburg.
