New Delhi: The world's largest rocket 'Delta IV Heavy' was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida on Saturday. The rocket is carrying a secret spy satellite for defence purposes.
The launch was scheduled earlier on Thursday but due to bad weather it was postponed till Saturday. The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) has denied any information on the purpose of the launch and what the rocket was carrying.
NRO also posted an update about the launch on its Facebook page and explained about the logo saying the ‘Knight’ logo symbolized the need to 'protect at all cost'. The FB post:
If sources are to be believed, the rocket remains a mystery. It carries a powerful surveillance satellite meant for catching electronic signals from ships, aircraft and other satellites to provide all the necessary help for national defence. Also to add to the mystery, the live feed of the rocket’s launch was cut off after about 6 minutes. Officials said this was done for security reasons.
