LIVE: Earthquake tremors felt in India, Nepal. At least 16 killed, over 800 injured

NEW DELHI: Earthquake tremors were felt in different parts of the country including Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Jharkhand, Haryana, Bihar, Assam and others at 12:37 PM on Tuesday. Nepal was once again hit by a strong earthquake that measured 7.3 on the Richter Scale. 

The nearby cities affected by the quake include are Zham (China), Banepa (Nepal), Panaoti (Nepal), Kathmandu (Nepal) and Patan (Nepal).

Following the first shake, another aftershock measuring 5.6 on Richter scale was recorded with its epicentre 25 km South-East of Kodari, Nepal.

While the earlier reports suggested that the epicenter was Afghanistan, it was later informed by USGS that the epicenter is the Nepal-China border.

3:07 PM: Officials claim that one person died each in Patna, Darbhanga and Siwan.
3:05 PM: Bihar government confirm of three deaths in the state.
2:41 PM: Prime Minister’s Office informed of PM Modi directing all authorities to be alert on carrying out rescue operations. “The Prime Minister directed all concerned authorities to be on alert for carrying out rescue and relief operations, as required. The PM took stock of the situation following the fresh major earthquake felt in Nepal and parts of India, at a high-level meeting.”
2:35 PM: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweets, "I appeal to our people to maintain calm. Our government will provide all support. Earthquake has once again struck many parts of our state and other parts of the country and abroad. We are with all our brothers and sisters. Round-the-clock Control Room has been opened at 'Nabanna' and the numbers are 1070 and 22143526."
2:23 PM: Another aftershock of 5.2 magnitude struck 28 km South-Southeast of Kodari in Nepal.

2:12 PM: Kathmandu airport shut till 2:30 PM.
