New Delhi: At least nine people were killed and fifteen were wounded in a car-bomb attack by armed gunmen at a hotel in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu on Saturday.
Reports said a car exploded near the hotel before the militant fighters stormed the building.
Heavy exchange of gunfire between security guards and the attackers were still going on inside the hotel.
The gunmen have taken an undetermined number of hostages inside the hotel.
Local police said that security forces are mounting an operation to free the hostages, among whom may be a government official.
The attackers are believed to be members of the Al Shabaab jihadist group, an affiliate of Al Qaeda in Somalia which in recent months has attacked numerous hotels and restaurants in the capital.
