New Delhi: Singapore Airlines flight SQ368 avoided a disastrous outcome on Monday when the plane caught fire shortly after making an emergency landing at Changi Airport in Singapore.
The fire erupted from the left wing of the plane before the authorities inside the airport rushed to tend to the fire. Singapore Airlines confirmed that all the 222 passengers and the 19 crew members onboard the flight has been safely evacuated.
Flight SQ368 was en route to Milan in Italy when, due to some complications in the engine, the pilot had to make an emergency landing back at the Singapore Airport.
Airport authorities have doused the fire and there are no reports of any kind of injuries.
Confirming the news, Singapore Airlines announced that the flight had to be diverted back due to warning about the engine oil.
“The aircraft’s right engine caught fire after it touched down [about] 6.50am,” the airlines confirmed.
