New Delhi: Tapping over the build-up of increasing violence against religious minorities in Bangladesh, a Hindu priest was hacked to death on Friday by three unidentified assailants at a temple.
According to the chief of Jhenaidah district administration, the priest was preparing the flowers in the temple for the morning prayer when three bike-borne assailants came with machetes and hacked him to death.
Police said that motive of any kind was absent in the incident and was, pertaining to the nature of the crime, a religious attack against other minorities.
Bangladesh has seen a rise in incidences where religious minorities are targeted and then hacked to death. It may also be contributed to the proliferation of Islamic State in the Muslim-majority country.
