New Delhi: A drill inspection of a patrol boat in Taiwan took a dreadful turn when a supersonic missile was accidentally set off towards mainland China. 

The missile, Hsiung Feng III as reported by Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA), has a range of approximately 300 kilometres.

The missile which was accidentally launched hit a fishing boat off the Penghu islands, killing the Taiwanese captain of the boat who was onboard.

The Vice Admiral Mei Chia-hsu, when asked about whether this would affect relationships with China, said that the island’s defence ministry had already been reported of this incidence.
