New Delhi: In the early hours of US Independence Day, a suspected attacker was killed on Monday after detonating a device near its consulate in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia.

Reports said that two policemen were wounded in the incident.

The attacker was headed in a car toward a mosque that is near the US consulate. Most of the consulate’s staff have reportedly moved its offices to a new location.

The Saudi Arabian security forces has neutralised a suicide bomber.

In 2004, nine people were killed when militant attacked on the US consulate in Jeddah. The Saudi wing of al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for that attack.
