New Delhi: Pakistan on Saturday attempted at a bizarre explanation on Saturday for the violence in Jammu and Kashmir when its defence minister blamed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for re-enacting the ethnic cleansing which occurred in Gujarat.
Khawaja Mohammed Asif, Defence Minister of Pakistan, said, "Massacre and genocide in Indian Occupied Kashmir is extension & re-enactment of ethnic cleansing started by Modi in Gujarat."
Pakistan had earlier approached the United Nations for the imposition of regulations in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. India had retaliated by claiming that Pakistan’s cynical attempts would find no resonance in the United Nations.
Jammu and Kashmir, which is witnessing violent upheaval following the encounter of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, has been reeling the imposition of curfew in the state. More than 30 people have been killed till now and scores of civilians are injured.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced that Pakistan would observe July 19 as a Black Day.
