New Delhi: Two people were killed and 17 wounded after a shooting at a nightclub in Fort Myers, western Florida on Monday morning. The incident occurred during a 'teen night' event.
Taking place at Club Blu in Fort Myers, the County Sheriff's office said that at least two people were killed in the firing while more than 17 were injured and taken to hospital. The event was attended mostly by children who were below the age of 13.
The club was hosting a "swimsuit glow party" for teens Sunday night, a local ABC station reported. At this point, police said, it is unclear what the motive was behind the shooting.
The mass shooting purportedly occurred when the party-goers were leaving the nightclub. Witnesses said that they heard multiple gunshots and the use of different weapons during the attack.
Investigating officials have taken three suspects into custody for questioning.
This is the second mass shooting in Florida after a gunman killed 49 people at a gay club in Orlando last month.
