France church siege: 1 hostage killed; security forces 'neutralise' both armed men

New Delhi: A hostage situation has been reported in a church in northern France where two knifemen had reportedly taken captive two nuns, a priest and several other worshipers on Tuesday, 26 July. 
In the gun battle between the security forces and the armed men one of the priest's life was compromised.   
The armed knifeman had stormed the Church of the Gambetta in northern France at around 9.45am local time.
Police was immediately rushed to the spot and have surrounded the vicinity, the nearby area was evacuated.
Later the two armed men were 'neutralised' by security forces. The security agencies are monitoring the situation closely.
