One killed, several injured in Texas shooting

New Delhi: At least one person was killed and several others injured in a shooting in Austin, Texas on Sunday at around 1 am local time. The gunman opened fire killing a 30-year-old woman. The shooting took place outside bars and clubs on East 6th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard.

“A woman in her 30s died and at least three more were shot,” Austin-County Emergency Medical Services said.

The injured have been taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge for treatment.

The Austin police posted a message on Twitter urging people to stay away from the downtown area.

“Active shooter incident downtown, multiple victims. Stay away from downtown. Media: Dont call for updates at this time, more to follow,” Austin police tweeted.

In another tweet, the Austin Police said there were shootings at multiple locations. “Update: separate shootings within the same area. Both scenes are secure at this time. PIO responding to identify staging area.”
