Kabul: At least 1 police officer and two suicide bombers were killed on Monday after a huge explosion rocked Kabul's North Gate hotel. 2 ANP and 2 elite force members were also injured during the gunfight.
Th explosion took place around 1.25 a.m. (local time) followed by a fierce gunbattle.
As per the current reports, security operation ended an hour ago.
Initial reports also suggest that there was a truck bomb at the Northgate compound which was housing foreign contractors. It is assumed four attackers may be involved in the attack. Additional security forces have arrived at the scene of explosion at North Gate hotel.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Heavy gunfight is under way.
In July 2013, North Gate guesthouse came under attack when five militants blasted open a wall with a truck bomb and made their way into the compound. Five security guards were killed before the attackers were gunned down, Tolo news reported.
