New Delhi: Pakistan's Awam Express bound for Karachi crashed into a freight train near the city of Multan on Thursday, injuring more than a hundred people in the accident.
The impact was so strong that four carriages of the Awam Express were overturned on the track. At least six people have been confirmed dead in the incident and more than one hundred have been reportedly injured.
The Awam Express was bound for Karachi from Peshawar when it hit a freight train on early Thursday morning near the Bucch Railway Station in the vicinity of Sher Shah.
Rescue authorities are scouring the carriages for victims as emergency has been declared at the Nishtar Medical Hospital and Shahbaz Sharif in Multan, according to the Daily Star.
